“Care does not need Powerful eyes or a cute voice or a lovely face. It always needs a beautiful, responsible heart which affects forever”
This is one of my favourite quotes which completely suits all the dedicated & passionate teachers who inspire, motivate & leave a long lasting impression on their students. This community is known for giving unconditional love & immense care to their students. While students are always dependent on such teachers for day-to-day guidance as well as long term mentoring, their teachers also need some kind of mentoring. Especially the one who wants to bring a change & is new to this community.
In my age-long career I have come across innumerable young minds, who are passionate about this career & fit all the essential criteria required. Still they are hesitant to take up this responsibility or give up after a few years, if at all they take it up. The reasons are quite simply obvious: either they fail to adapt to the organizational culture or they fall prey to pseudo authority.
I have seen many potential academicians leaving the organization just because they refuse to change accordingly or accept their failure. When such candidates have what it takes to really bring about a change in the society through the power of their knowledge and passion then why do they give up?
If they cannot adapt the culture of any organization just because they are too simple to handle the tricky situations, it’s the responsibility of the higher authority & most importantly the senior colleagues to help them overcome that problem. I believe ‘we’, the experienced teachers or educationists and academicians, whatever we may call ourselves, have the topmost responsibility to handhold these young minds who have exuberant ideas & fire in the belly and can actually bring a dynamic change in the students’ approach as well as in their paradigm.
Imagine if each one of us takes up the responsibility to groom & mentor the new members of this group, be it an organization or the entire community, in no time will we be able to strengthen our education system & contribute a little bit more to our society.
Actually this requires zero effort and yet gives high yield. We just have to share resources & someone gains more confidence to follow the right path.
Our experience becomes a hand book; our mistake turns into key to success, our advice convert into a rule book for someone. And believe me; the satisfaction you derive out of this is unimaginable. Let us begin the most beautiful relationship in the world of knowledge ‘MENTOR – MENTEE’.
